SARASOTA - Condo owners at Dolphin Tower in downtown Sarasota may not be returning home anytime soon.
The Herald Tribune reported over the weekend that it could be another year before they are able to move back into the structurally shakey building, which is located along Gulf Stream Avenue.
The condominium tower was vacated in 2010 after severe structural damage was reported to the 15-story building. Cracks in concrete slabs throughout the fourth floor led to the evacuation of the building.
Reportedly, repair work has stalled because of budget limitations. The homeowners association also had a dispute with a firm slated to make repairs to the 117-unit building.
Earlier this year the association president said she hoped to have everyone home by December of this year. Now it could be the end of 2014 before the repairs will be complete.
