BRADENTON-- Residents living at a mobile home park where a little girl was kidnapped, are relieved over the suspect's arrest.

On Wednesday, Manatee County Authorities arrested 36-year-old Dominick Hawkins and charged him with capital sexual battery and kidnapping. Sheriff Brad Steube believes Hawkins kidnapped the 5-year-old girl, and then sexually assaulted her inside of a vacant trailer at the nearby Aloha Estates Mobile Home Park. The little girl was playing outside her home at the Wayside Glen Mobile Home Park in Bradenton at the time of kidnapping.

"I cannot tell you how happy we are to have this individual in custody. This is something every parent has a nightmare about," said Steube.

Also happy are those living at Wayside Glen.

"I was really happy. I was smiling, laughing and hugging my children. Everyone can get some sleep tonight," said resident, Misty Bell.

"Some of the kids are starting to come out and play again. You can tell there is a sigh of relief," said resident, Joann Reeves.

Detectives still are not sure if Hawkins knew the girl, but they do admit that he once lived at Wayside Glen.
