Missing an emu? Sarasota County may have it

SARASOTA -County authorities are searching for the owner of an emu that was found wandering in the area of Fruitville Road and I-75 Wednesday.

Sarasota County Sheriff’s Office Animal Services says the emu was found wandering in the Deer Hollow neighborhood, off Richardson Road between Cattlemen Road and Honore Avenue.

Animal Services Officers were called to the neighborhood and transported the animal to the shelter.

Anyone who may have lost an emu in Sarasota County can contact Animal Services at (941) 861-9501. They must provide proof of ownership to claim the animal.
