SARASOTA, Fla. - A Sarasota Military Academy teacher has been fired after cell phone video surfaced showing him confronting a student.

The video shows teacher Jeff Daughtry yelling and pushing a student into a chair.

The charter school fired Daughtry on April 4th. The state determined there was no immediate danger to the teen to pursue further action.

I'm sorry, but in my opinion this teacher needed to get fired. He said open your mouth again and you will die. Those are words that never should come out of someone's mouth that works with children, any age. I agree with #Farfalla, send them to the principle, talk to the parents, counsel the student but don't threaten them, that's just scary.

My child attends this school and I am disturbed to learn how many of the teachers have PTSD. That is a concern for me. Dealing with teenagers that will push your buttons does not sound like the type of atmosphere for a person that is dealing with PTSD. My child says this was a great teacher, but my concern is his loss of control when dealing with this student. It should never escalate to this point. If a student is disruptive or disrespectful he/she should be sent to the office, not handled the way this teacher handled it. If you expect these students to learn self respect and control then shouldn't they show by example. What does this loss of control teach the students?
