When cyberbullying apparently drove 12-year-old Rebecca Sedwick to jump to her death this month, her suicide drove others to try to salvage something from the tragedy.

A student of Crystal Lake Middle School in Lakeland, where Polk County deputies say the bullying against Sedwick began, held a yard sale to raise money for Sedwick's family, as well as to raise awareness about bullying's harmful effects.

Peyton Carter said that despite not knowing Sedwick very well, she still worries for her family. She raised approximately $600 from selling anything from clothes to lawn care equipment. Carter gave all of that money to Sedwick's family.

Detectives say that as many as 15 girls bullied Sedwick through online message boards and texts before she climbed a tower at an abandoned concrete plant and jumped off earlier this month.
