Mayor Atwell discusses Sarasota's panhandling ban

SARASOTA – The city’s new ordinance banning panhandling is a welcome relief for many downtown Sarasota drivers and visitors, many of whom had complained panhandlers were becoming all to frequent.

But commissioners say it also addresses growing concerns about public safety.

ABC 7 discussed this issue with Sarasota mayor Suzanne Atwell live on ABC 7 News at 11 Wednesday night. Here’s what she had to say.
