Manatee Schools Superintendent seeking two-year extension

BRADENTON, Fla. -- The future of Manatee Schools Superintendent Rick Mills will be discussed at Tuesday evening's school board meeting.

The board will consider proposed contract changes for Superintendent Mills. He's reportedly seeking a two year extension.

Mills was hired as superintendent after the former leader, Tim McGonegal stepped down from his position. The district also faced a deficit in the millions, which Mills has worked to correct.

The school board will also consider a proposal to increase the cost of school lunches by five cents. Also on the agenda: how to handle bus service to charter schools and a policy concerning service animals in schools.

ABC 7's Bobeth Yates is covering this story and will have a report tonight on ABC 7 News at 5 & 6.
