BRADENTON, Fla. - The starting quarterback for the Manatee High Hurricanes has been arrested after a 15-year-old girl says he raped her at a party.
17-year-old Josh Meyer has been charged with felony Lewd & Lascivious Battery.
According to a Manatee County Sheriff's Office report, the victim told investigators that the two were at a party Saturday night and were drinking. She says he pulled her into a bathroom, put on a condom and had sex with her, despite her objections.
Meyer reportedly admitted having sexual activity with the girl, but says there was no intercourse.
Meyer was arrested Monday morning.
In a statement by the School Board on Manatee County, Meyer will be re-assigned to an alternative school until the matter is resolved.
Meyer, a junior, started 14 games at quarterback for the Hurricanes in 2013, going undefeated during the regular season. The Hurricanes lost in the 2nd round of the playoffs to Ft. Pierce Central.
