Manatee Home Hit by Shotgun Fire - Deputies Make Arrest

  • 1

The Manatee County Sheriff's Office reports that on Friday Dec. 14th, 2012, at 10:45 PM, two men were arrested after one of them fired a shotgun into a neighbor's home at 2901 18th Street West, Bradenton, FL.

The home's occupant, called the Manatee County Sheriff's Office to report that his neighbor, Scott Caldwell, had just kicked a window in on their home.  It was also stated Caldwell stole a bicycle from the home's carport.

Upon arrival, a deputy was speaking to the victim in front of the residence when he heard two loud gunshots come from directly behind the house.  Multiple units responded, and two deputies came upon two males emerging from the area of the gunshots, between two homes.  They observed Mr. Brier carrying a 12 gauge shotgun in his hand.  The pair were confronted and then detained.  Brier admitted to firing the shotgun, but denied aiming at the home.  The rear of the victim’s home had numerous holes in it, consistent with the birdshot loaded in the shotgun.

Both subjects were arrested and there were no injuries.
