BRADENTON, Fla. - The High School Sports section of USA Today's website has nominated coaches from around the country to participate in an online "Best Coach" contest, and a legendary Suncoast coach is among the selections.

Manatee High School's Joe Kinnan is one of eight Florida coaches up for online voting in the first round of the process, which ends October 8th.

"It's quite an honor," said Kinnan. "I'm very fortunate that I've lived this long. My mom told me that if you live long enough, good things will happen to you someday."

Kinnan has coached Manatee to five state championships (1983, 1985, 1989, 1992, 2011) and were state runners up twice (1993, 2009). His biggest battle came in 2000 when he was diagnosed with prostate cancer, forcing him to step down as Manatee's Head Coach. He returned to the sideline after a four year hiatus.

"We've got great coaches, and he taught those coaches. He should be coach of the year," said Manatee Quarterback Josh Meyer.

" He's a great coach. He's getting us to college and teaching us right from wrong," said Wide Receiver Brodrick Yancy.

The regional round of the USA Today contest runs from October 9th through October 18.  The national round will be held October 21st through October 29th.

You have got to be kidding me!!! There is no reason he hasn't been charged for the entire Frazier incident. As Head Coach and athletic director he had to have known something! No way! No how that he is deserving of this![sad]
