Manatee County deputies are investigating a series of car burglaries in Bradenton

BRADENTON, Fla. – Manatee County Sheriff’s deputies are investigating a burglary that a man witnessed this morning.

Robert Valdez, the witness, saw a man on 21st St W riding a bicycle and pulling on car door handles. Valdez called 911 and remained on the line while he observed the defendant enter a blue Ford truck and a white Ford van that were across the street in the 5000 block of 21st St W.

Valdez further witnessed the suspect enter his daughter’s Mazda without permission, wearing socks on his hands and began rummaging through its contents, eventually taking various amounts of change from the cup holders. The suspect fled from the scene on foot when deputies arrived, jumping over various fences and obstacles, finally ending up at 5006 21st St W.

Deputy Bruns trailed the defendant to the carport connected to 5006 20th St W where she waited for assisting deputies to arrive. Shortly thereafter, the defendant was captured and placed under arrest.

Manatee County deputies identified the suspect as 18-year-old Tyler Hunter.

Law enforcement hopes to determine if Mr. Hunter is involved in numerous other vehicle burglaries reported in the same area.
