SARASOTA COUNTY - A Sarasota man is being treated for minor cuts and bruises after his Honda hit two power poles Tuesday night.

Florida Highway Patrol arrived at the scene on Clark Road, east of Lockwood Ridge Road, at 9:30 Tuesday night. A witness tells ABC 7 that the man climbed out of the wreckage before being sent to a local hospital to be treated for his injuries.

Troopers say 29-year-old Jeffrey Slate was eastbound on Clark Road diving over the speed limit.  As he approached a slower moving vehicle, he swerved to the right to avoid a collision, drove onto the sidewalk, and struck two power poles.

The car came to a rest on its roof in the center lane of Clark Road.

Slate was wearing a seat belt, and alcohol is not believed to have been a factor.  He was charged with Careless Driving.
