SARASOTA - Police are investigating the death of a man that was found in a field Thursday morning.

On Thursday around 8am, the Sarasota Police Department responded to the 1800 block of 19th Street on a report of a man lying motionless in the vacant field behind the apartments, which is behind the Boys and Girls Club.

Upon arrival at the scene, officers located a deceased black male in his 20’s.

The male has been identified as Jovonne R. Corn. At this time Sarasota Police Department detectives are treating this case as a homicide investigation.
