SARASOTA, FL. - A routine stop at a gas station ended with a trip to the hospital for a couple after they become the victims of a random and violent assault.

It happened Sunday around 6:20pm in the parking lot of the Shell gas station at 1801 S. Tamiami Trail, just across from Sarasota Memorial Hospital.

41-year-old Stacey Moore was airlifted to Blake Medical Center as a result of the injuries she sustained as a result of this attack.  Police confirmed Monday that she is two months pregnant.

The other victim in this case is her fiancé, 43-year-old Travis Quintenz of Sarasota. He was taken to Sarasota Memorial for treatment. He has since been released, but she still remains in the hospital.

Police say they have made two arrests. 29-year-old Jason Ritenour and 36-year-old Courtland Johnson have both been arrested and charged with aggravated battery in connection to this case.

Police say the victims had stopped at the Shell station on their motorcycle, when Quintenz got into a dispute with Ritenour, who police believe was intoxicated.

The dispute then turned physical. Moore attempted to help her fiancé and was attacked by Johnson, who police say kicked and punched her repeatedly.

Police say Johnson is about 6’5” and 180 pounds. Moore is about 4'11'' and 100 pounds.

Authorities say what ultimately cracked this case was good old-fashioned police work, using surveillance footage from the Exxon station next door to the Shell station, which caught sight of one of the suspects.

Ritenour has previous felony convictions for Aggravated Battery of a pregnant juvenile in Charlotte County in 2004, and Burglary in Sarasota County in 2003. Johnson has a felony conviction for Felony Battery in Sarasota in 2012.
