SARASOTA - People eating breakfast at a Sarasota restaurant were a little startled Wednesday morning after a man accidentally hit the building with his vehicle.

It happened around 7 am at the Denny's restaurant located at Bee Ridge Road and Riviera Drive just east of Beneva Road.

Apparently the driver got his peddles mixed, and instead of breaking he went forward into the building.

Fortunately, no one was injured. The only noticeable damage to the building was a few destroyed plants.

I'm not saying age was a factor in this incident but in cases like this it often is. There is a program called Beyond Driving with Dignity, developed by www.keepingussafe.org, that helps older drivers self assess their driving abilities and safety.
