SARASOTA, Fla. - A Port Charlotte man died Thursday morning after getting run over by a tractor forklift, investigators say.

It happened outside the Auto Barn Wholesale building on Packinghouse Road just south of Palmer Boulevard.

According to the Sarasota County Sheriff's Office, 49-year-old Garry Miller was using the tractor on private property and apparently got off the tractor while it was still in gear.  The tractor ran him over and crashed into a fence.

A passerby saw the scene and called 911.

Authorities consider the incident an accidental death.
