SARASOTA, Fla. - A Sarasota man has been arrested on drug possession charges after making a peculiar comment to a police officer.

Sarasota Police were patrolling Whitaker Park on North Tamiami Trail Saturday afternoon when they approached two men sitting at a table in the park.

Officers observed 41-year-old Charles Williams turn and drop a cigarette box.  When they told Williams that he dropped his cigarettes, he told officers "I don't smoke cigarettes, I smoke weed."

Officers retrieved the box and found four pieces of crack cocaine inside.

Williams was placed under arrest for possession of crack cocaine and taken to the Sarasota County Jail.
