BRADENTON, FL. - The Manatee County Sheriff’s Office has arrested a man who tried to lure a 12-year-old girl out from a Bradenton library.

It happened Wednesday around 1:30pm at the South Manatee Library located at 6081 26th Street West.

According to the Manatee County Sheriff’s Office, the victim was at the library, when she was approached by the suspect, 36-year-old Eric K. Ray of Bradenton.

Ray began to talk to her alone. He asked her if she was bored and she replied that she was. Ray then asked her if she would like to accompany him outside behind the library to, “do a little work and make a little money”. She began to walk away and he said, “Come on, come outside and do a little work and you’ll get a little money, do a lot of work and you’ll get a lot of money.”

Ray then pulled out some money from his pocket and waived it in front of her. She walked away from the suspect and notified an employee of the library who called 911.

Ray was inside the library when deputies arrived. He was arrested and invoked his right to remain silent after being read his rights.
