CHARLOTTE COUNTY, Fla. - Investigators arrested a Port Charlotte man Friday after a package containing nearly 10 pounds of marijuana was shipped to an Englewood home.

According to the Charlotte County Sheriff's Office, investigators received word from a California law enforcement unit that a package possibly containing narcotics was due to be delivered to a home in the 10000 block of Kidron Avenue in Englewood.

Investigators put the home under surveillance and witnessed the package being delivered.  Later, a man identified as 30-year-old Javier Rodriguez of Port Charlotte arrived at the home and put the package in the trunk of his car.

Rodriquez's car was later stopped and a narcotic K9 unit located the shipment, which contained 10 triple-vacuum sealed bags containing a total of 9.83 pounds of marijuana.

Rodriguez was charged with Possession of Cannabis with the Intent to Distribute, Possession of Cannabis over 20 grams, Possession of Paraphernalia and Reckless Driving. He was released on a $13,500 bond.
