Lockdown lifted at Sarasota schools after reported shots fired

SARASOTA – Sarasota Police are investigating a shooting at 24th Street and Osprey Avenue.

Police say shots were fired just before 10:30 am, but there were no injuries.

Booker High School, Booker Middle, Booker Elementary and Gocio Elementary were put under lock down as a precaution, according to a Sarasota County school spokesman.

The lock down has been lifted and the area is now clear.

Detectives are interviewing the victims and following up on evidence and leads.
