SARASOTA, Fla. - It's a big day for online retailers, as just about everyone is looking to cash in on Cyber Monday. Two local Suncoast businesses say their use of e-commerce will set the tone for the rest of the holiday season.

“I would much rather shop online for sure and the deals and everything just shows up at your door, so you don't have to go anywhere or do anything,” says Tobi Mickle, a shopper.

Cyber Monday, on the Suncoast, means bigger sales and more revenue for local companies, like Tervis, in Osprey. Their famous, made in the USA, tumblers are known for keeping your drinks at just the right temperature and are manufactured locally in Venice.

“We're very well-woven throughout the local community, but we're also taking on a national level now too. Their made in America heritage is really a strong selling point for us,” says Mellisa Allen, Vice President of E-commerce for Tervis.

Allen says a significant amount of revenue comes from online sales.

“Each year just keeps getting better and better. We're really starting to see that at the beginning of the Thanksgiving holiday weekend; and so Cyber Monday is really kind of the capstone to it, and it sets the tone for the rest of what the holiday season will be like,” says Allen.

But online shopping isn't for everyone. Customers filled the Tervis store today to take advantage of a 20% off deal, but they could have stayed home for that same deal and receive free shipping.

“I'm a hands on person. I like to go to the store and feel the stuff, look at it, and see what I’m getting,” says Gail Romano, a Tervis customer.

Another Bradenton based company, Bealls, has incredible deals this Cyber Monday, and they tell ABC 7, they are seeing double digit growth because of their online store.

“Typically our website does anywhere from 8-10% of our total business. On this day, it does up to 40%,” says Sean Sondreal, Chief Marketing Officer for Bealls.

Since Bealls stores can only be found in Florida, their e-commerce has grown so much, that 50% of their online business is done nationally, outside the state of Florida.

Shop.org, with the National Retail Federation, predicts online holiday sales to increase by 13-15% from last year, with as much as $82 billion in sales.
