SARASOTA - The Sarasota County Sheriff’s Office arrested two Lehigh Acres men and a teenager for stealing a boat and trailer in Sarasota early Monday morning following the attempted theft of another trailer earlier in Nokomis.

According to a sheriff's office report, deputies were looking for an extended cab white Dodge Ram following the initial theft attempt around 11:45pm Sunday night at a home on Palmetto Street in Nokomis after the owner scared the men off.

A deputy spotted a vehicle matching the description and towing a boat on S. Tamiami Trail in Sarasota and stopped them on McIntosh Road at Sawyer Loop Road.  The investigation revealed that after leaving the Palmetto Street location, the suspects proceeded to steal a 30’ Donzi boat and trailer from a Nautilus Drive home they had cased before.

The suspects, 39-year-old Steven Miller, Sr., 47-year old Dennis Flint and a 16-year old male, have been charged with two counts each of Grand Theft and one count of Attempted Grand Theft.  Miller and Flint are also charged with Contributing to the Delinquency of a Minor for including the teen in the crime.

Flint is also charged with Possession of Marijuana, and Mr. Miller faces an additional charge for Violating Probation. Both men have extensive and violent criminal histories.
