THONOTOSASSA, Fla. -- Yes, we know alligators are actually reptiles. A Hillsborough County woman was reportedly attacked today by one such reptile. It happened at the John B. Sargeant Wildlife Park on the Hillsborough River.
The victim and a female companion were canoeing the river this afternoon when a six-foot gator somehow jumped out of the water and into the boat, biting one of them on the leg.
The victim was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injures. Trappers are expected to head to the area in an effort to track and capture the offending reptile.
ABC 7 will update this story as more details become available.
