SARASOTA - Kids looking for something to do this summer might consider a new type of summer camp: spiritual surfing.

More than a hundred surfboards were delivered to the Compound Skate Shop in Sarasota Wednesday in preparation for the Eternal Summer Surf Camp. Volunteers gathered to assemble the dozens of boards.

Last year nearly 400 kids signed up for the free six-session program.

Organizers of the non-profit Christian organization set up the camp to provide something fun and spiritual for the kids. “We just received 132 boards. They were brought in from China, actually, with our logo on them. Which is a pretty cool thing, because we just expanded our camp to Sarasota,” says John Bowman.

The first surf camp session will take place June 30th. You can register for the surf camp by going to their website at www.eternalsummersurfcamp.com.
