SARASOTA - A new member of Mote Marine's Ancient Survivors Exhibit was introduced to the public Thursday morning.
Caleb is an injured Kemps Ridley Turtle. Mote is providing Caleb with a new permanent home, because it has impaired swimming abilities and can't be returned to the wild.
"He had that floating disorder and while in care he also developed a bone infection and now has limited movement of his front flippers and has been deemed non-releasable by Florida Fish & Wildlife," says Mote Marine Sea Turtle Coordinator Holly West.
Caleb is the first Kemps Ridley Turtle to become a full-time resident of the aquarium.
