LONGBOAT KEY, Fla. -- The fate of The Colony Beach and Tennis Resort could be determined by a judge this week.

According to the Herald Tribune, an auction is scheduled for Thursday that will likely determine who will own the dilapidated property.

The Colony opened in 1979 and was one of the area's most popular vacation destinations. It was once ranked a top resort by U.S. Tennis Magazine.

It closed in 2010 because of a dispute between condo owners and the master developer because of needed repairs. The property since has sat vacant.
