Listen people, it was another busy weekend in Sarasota, plus we had some celebrity sightings this past week.
There's a new restaurant in town that just opened its doors this past weekend. Roast has moved into the two-story spot next to the Sarasota Opera House with a high-end steak and seafood menu. I don't have to tell you that not many restaurants have lasted long in that spot, which is surprising given its great location.
But I'm happy to say that word on the street is that the food is excellent. So I speak for all the locals when I say we hope that Roast breaks the curse and sticks around through season.
And now to our celeb sightings this week.
Hollywood actor Justin Long, the star of Dodgeball and Live Free or Die Hard was in town this weekend. ABC 7’s Hayley Wielgus shared the stage at Ringling College this weekend and led a great Q&A with Justin and his brother.
He was really gracious with the packed audience, even autographing one student's dodgeball. Well my spies told me he was spotted at the Ritz Saturday night and continued to be gracious with the crowd. He even face timed with one fan so her daughter could see him.
And Justin wasn't the only celeb in town. You've probably heard that Rosie O'Donnell recently bought a home on Casey Key. Well we've had our first Rosie sighting in downtown Sarasota when she enjoyed a quiet dinner at Owen's Fish Camp in Burns Court.
Even the most enthusiastic fans let her dine in peace. The last thing you want is for crazed locals to rush your table while you're enjoying those fried pickles.
