SARASOTA CO., FL (WWSB) - A 33-year-old Nokomis man has died after being struck by a vehicle on I-75 early Saturday.
The incident occurred around 2 a.m. Saturday on I-75 southbound around mile marker 211, between the Fruitville and University Parkway exits.
A vehicle driven by Seth M. Braley, 23, of Sarasota, was traveling southbound on I-75 in the right lane. A pedestrian, Christopher M. Scott, 33, of Nokomis, was walking southbound on I-75 in the right lane ahead of the vehicle.
Braley's vehicle then collided with the rear of Scott. According to the Florida Highway Patrol, the collision propelled Scott forward where he came to a rest on the roadway.
Braley then fled the scene of the accident southbound on I-75.
Scott died from his injuries sustained in the crash. Braley was charged with DUI and leaving the scene of an accident involving a death.
