SARASOTA, Fla. -- An update on the I-75 University Parkway interchange project indicates that the cost of the project is going up.

According to published reports, the estimated cost of the diverging diamond project has gone up from $60 million to $72 million.

Also, construction could begin as soon as August 2015. That's 10 months after the nearby Mall at University Town Center is scheduled to open.

The project is still in the design phase.
