SARASOTA, Fla. – Many got up early Saturday to enjoy the sunshine and do a little rowing. It was the Florida Intercollegiate Rowing Association Championships!

The two day event took place Friday and Saturday at Nathan Benderson Park. The regatta featured a collection of some of the best collegiate rowers in the state of Florida. Event Coordinator, Paul Blackketter, said “It gives them an opportunity to come out and complete on one of the best and finest courses in the United States. The weather condition is perfect so they can basically size up and move forward to the NCAA National Championships for some of these teams!”.

Blackketter went on to say the event would not have been a success without its great volunteers and support from the local community.
