SARASOTA - The sharks on ABC's Shark Tank didn't appear to be very hungry for ice cream on Friday, when they decided not to bite at an investment opportunity presented to them by Sub Zero ice cream.

The company's founders, Jerry and Naomi Hancock were turned down on the show, but the exposure was great for the Sub Zero location in Sarasota. It's the only location east of the Rocky Mountains, according to local franchise owner, Don Wirth.

"Just to see this on television in the national spotlight is huge," Worth said.

The Sarasota location on Clark Road sponsored a watch party. Dozens showed up to watch Shark Tank and eat some delicious ice cream. Sub Zero is special because employees use liquid nitrogen to make the ice cream right in front of your eyes. The temperature of the liquid nitrogen is 320 degrees below zero. Moreover, the combinations are endless. Staff members say there are trillions of combinations.

"It's cool how it tastes with the nitrogen and how it's so cold," said Trave Viesta, a customer from Sarasota.

The local shop is owned by a group of nurses from Manatee Memorial Hospital. Even though they won't be involved, another Sub Zero location is scheduled to open next week on Siesta Key. Developers are currently searching for other locations on the east coast of the United States, from Boston to Miami.
