2 hospitalized after motorcycle hits deer on Manatee County road

MANATEE COUNTY, FL. - Two people are in serious condition after their motorcycle hit a deer crossing the road.

It happened Wednesday around 3 a.m. on State Road 64 about 1 mile east of Dam Road.

65-year-old Curtis and 70-year-old Shirley Jackson from Avon Park were riding their Harley motorcycle east on State Road 64, when a deer attempted to cross the road in front of them.

The motorcycle struck the deer, overturned and slid over 300 feet.

Both riders were ejected. They were taken to Blake Memorial Hospital in serious condition. Neither of them was wearing a helmet.
