On Sunday, December 9, 2012, at approximately 3:15 a.m., Bradenton Police Officers responded to the intersection of 27th St. and 13th Ave. East, on a report that a person had been shot. The victim, Mr. Rene Salinas, 31 years of age, of Bradenton, Fl was operating a vehicle that was stopped at the intersection attempting to turn north on 27th St. East, when an unknown suspect discharged a firearm from a westbound  vehicle. An unharmed passenger described the suspect vehicle as a light colored, 4-door sedan, which continued westbound on 13th Ave. East. Mr. Salinas sustained a single fatal gunshot wound, and was pronounced deceased at the scene.

Captain Warren Merriman remarked that this was not a robbery, or a result of road rage, but was a senseless random act of violence, which took the life of an individual that leaves behind a wife, and five children. The Bradenton Police Department is continuing its investigation at this time, and is requesting the public’s help.
