SARASOTA, Fla. -- Homeless consultant Dr. Robert Marbut is not on board with Sarasota's idea of a new advisory committee on homelessness.
Marbut has been working with the city and county to help remedy the area's homeless problem. According to the Herald-Tribune, Marbut says a new committee would likely be a waste of time and money.
City manager Tom Barwin is expected to present a list of potential organizations to be included in the committee Monday. It's part of a new initiative Barwin announced to help get homeless veterans off the street.
Marbut reportedly agrees with the idea of helping homeless vets, but says what's needed most is a come-as-you-are shelter.
