High speed chase through Bradenton Friday night

BRADENTON, Fla. --  Deputies are searching for a man that fled on foot after a high speed chase in Bradenton Friday.

According to the Manatee County Sheriff's Office, units were behind a vehicle believed to be stolen traveling north on 8th Avenue. Units confirmed that the vehicle, a silver Honda, was stolen, and began a pursuit. 

The chase continued north to 17th Street, then east towards U.S. 41.  The vehicle then turned north on U.S. 41.  The pursuit was called off as the vehicle continued up on U.S. 41 at speeds reaching approximately 80 MPH.

The car was then seen abandoned on the 6000 block of U.S. 41. The driver had fled.

Contact with the owner of the vehicle was never made and the vehicle was then towed.
