MANATEE COUNTY -- A car thief managed to elude arrest after leading police on a high-speed chase through Manatee County at speeds up to 105 MPH in the early hours of Saturday, November 9.

The Manatee County Sheriff's Office says a deputy located the suspect in a stolen tan Buick Lesabre heading north on US 301 at 63rd Ave. E at approximately 2:30 a.m. The suspect fled, eventually going north on 9th St. E as backup units came to help in the pursuit.

Authorities say the suspect ran multiple red lights as they drove north on US 41 and into Hillsborough County, also evading stop sticks at two separate locations. Once getting several miles into Hillsborough County, the sheriff's office there – which had previously been notified of the chase – decided not to continue the pursuit.

In total, the pursuit lasted 14 minutes. The suspect has not been identified.
