SARASOTA COUNTY - A pioneer and expert in the area of health and wellness made a stop on the Suncoast Monday.

Dr. Andrew Weil is a well-known author, practitioner, and pioneer of integrative medicine.

He spoke at an event for the Gulf Coast Community Foundation about meeting the nutritional needs of those who are poor and hungry.

For a healthy lifestyle, he stresses avoiding sugary drinks and eating natural foods.

“The big thing to be aware of is to try and cut down or eliminate consumption of refined and processed foods. They are full of all the things that are not good for us, and deficient in all the protective elements that are found in fruits and veggies and spices,” says Weil.
