SARASOTA, Fla. – People all around the country have been taking the Ice Bucket Challenge to help raise awareness and funds for ALS research. And Monday night, ABC 7 stepped up as well.

At the end of our 6pm newscast Monday, anchor Hayley Wielgus accepted the ALS challenge and let Bob Harrigan dump a bucket of ice water on her head live on the air.

Since July 29th, the viral video sensation has raised awareness and nearly $16 million for the ALS association.

Several of us at ABC 7 have pledged our donation to a very worthy cause.
