SARASOTA, Fla. - Northern college rowing teams are seeking the Suncoast's warmer waters.

We caught up with the Harvard men's rowing team Thursday morning, as they are finishing up a ten-day practice session on the Suncoast.

The rowers spend the mornings at Nathan Benderson Park in Sarasota, and the afternoons at Fort Hamer in Ellenton.

The team's captain says our weather is a welcome change from the frozen rivers of Boston. “In Boston right now the river’s frozen, so we can’t get out at all. So we’re allowed ten days down here to get some great rowing before we head back indoors and get some hard work done in Boston,” says Andrew Holmes.

Nathan Benderson Park will host the rowing World Championships in 2017.
