SARASOTA, FL. - A man in court for driving on a suspended license and asked not to drive is arrested after he drove off from the courthouse in a vehicle.
The Sarasota County Sheriff's Office arrested Lashay Alexander Smith for driving with a suspended or revoked license for the sixth time.
Smith appeared before a judge on Tuesday on contempt charges for Driving with a Suspended License and was admonished not to drive.
Deputies watched as he left the courtroom and drove off in a white Mercury sedan. He was immediately taken into custody.
This is Smith’s 50th arrest in Sarasota County for a variety of crimes, including False Imprisonment, Battery and the Sale and Possession of Rock Cocaine. Half of those arrests were for Violation of Probation and Contempt of Court.
