SARASOTA - The Sarasota teacher known as "Coach Dan" got his due Saturday night, in a celebration of his life.

Friends, family, and some of those he mentored as the Payne Park Skate Park manager joined together at the First Baptist Church in Sarasota to remember Dan Giguere, who died in a car crash February 8th.

Giguere taught physical education and coached basketball and golf at the Sarasota School of Arts and Sciences. People also knew him for his love of skateboarding, and after the service, some people went back to the skate park to hold a candlelight vigil.

Florida Highway Patrol is looking for witnesses to the crash that killed Giguere, as they examine the possibility that another car hit him and sending him out of control.

State troopers now believe that Giguere was trying to pass a white pickup truck hauling a landscaping trailer and a blue mustang at the time of the accident.

They want anyone who might have seen the crash to call them. They are trying to confirm whether another vehicle hit Giguere's Nissan just before the crash. The crash also seriously injured a 22-year-old man driving another pickup truck.
