SARASOTA - The Sarasota Police Department will offer a free seminar designed to help the public avoid “Scams, Schemes, and Exploitation”.

The training will occur on February 7th, starting at 6:30 p.m.

The training location will be the Sarasota Police Department (2099 Adams Lane), Community Room.

Detective Jack Carter, an economic crimes detective, assigned to the Criminal Investigations Division of the Sarasota Police Department, will be the presenter. Detective Carter will provide instruction on how to minimize your chances of becoming a victim of these crimes.

The seminar will include training on how to avoid becoming a victim of the emerging crime trends, fraudulent tax schemes, and identity theft.

Rules of Conduct

  • 1 Keep it Clean. Please avoid obscene, vulgar, lewd, racist or sexually-oriented language.
  • 2 Don't Threaten or Abuse. Threats of harming another person will not be tolerated. AND PLEASE TURN OFF CAPS LOCK.
  • 3 Be Truthful. Don't knowingly lie about anyone or anything.
  • 4 Be Nice. No racism, sexism or any sort of -ism that is degrading to another person.
  • 5 Be Proactive. Use the 'Report' link on each comment to let us know of abusive posts.
  • 6 Share with Us. We'd love to hear eyewitness accounts, the history behind an article.
