ENGLEWOOD, Fla. - Four teens from Georgia are facing multiple charges in Charlotte County as a result of a series of incidents on Gasparilla Island this week.

Beginning on Sunday July 21, deputies took three separate complaints from victims on Gasparilla Island, each reporting the theft of a golf cart.  One victim reported that she was unable to locate her golf cart that was valued at about $3,500.  A second victim reported finding his golf cart along a roadway, which was not where he had left it.  The third victim reported on Monday July 22 finding his golf cart abandoned on another part of the island crashed into a palm tree.

On Wednesday July 24, deputies were called to another location on the island concerning the burglary of a boat and a battery on a person.  One of the victims told deputies that he caught four teenage boys on his boat the previous evening.  He recovered the property he had seen them take and told them to leave the area.

The victim said that three of the boys and a different fourth boy returned about 20 minutes later.   They confronted a second man and one of the boys punched him, knocking him out.  The second man’s father came out of a house to try to break up the fight.  Before the boys ran off, one of the boys punched the first victim, causing a large cut above his eye that required 17 stitches.

As a result of the investigation into these incidents, detectives arrested Daniel Charles Albors, 16, of Canton GA, on three counts of Grand Theft of a Motor Vehicle, Burglary of a Conveyance and felony battery.  Albors was turned over to the Department of Juvenile Justice.

Michael Fisher Newsom, 15, of Ball Ground GA; Daniel Joseph Rafala, 15, of Ball Ground GA; and Sawyer Cole Scott, 16, of Canton GA, were all charged with three counts of Grand Theft of a Motor Vehicle.  They were all released to the custody of a local guardian.
