SARASOTA, Fla. -- Four people were injured, two seriously, Wednesday when investigators say a personal watercraft crashed into and was launched over a small boat.
It happened just after 6pm Wednesday around the Ringling Bridge.
According to Florida Fish and Wildlife, 32-year-old Hansell Cepa was riding a Kawasaki watercraft south approaching the bridge and came upon a 15-foot jon boat also headed south with three men in their 20's aboard.
FWC says the watercraft impacted the stern of the boat and ramped over the boat, landing back in the water. Cepa was ejected from the watercraft, and all three men in the boat were struck and knocked into the water.
They were able to swim back to the boat, and another watercraft towed them to shore.
All four men were taken to Sarasota Memorial Hospital for treatment. One man in the boat reportedly has a broken leg, and another has a broken arm and two broken ribs.
Charges are pending in the crash.
