BRADENTON, FL. - Detectives continue to investigate the whereabouts of a former pharmacy store owner wanted in connection with filling prescriptions for a drug trafficking organization.

Ajay Patel has been wanted since May of 2012 for Trafficking in Oxycodone from his pharmacies located in Bradenton, Longboat Key, and Parrish.

The Parrish pharmacy at 8324 U.S. 301 N. is the only one that continues to operate.

Three other subjects in the organization were arrested in 2010 including Dr. Jose Menendez of Osceola County.

Detectives believe Patel may have fled the country.

Anyone with information on his whereabouts is asked to call the Sheriff’s Office at 941-747-3011, ext. 2560.

This is a joint investigation with the Statewide Prosecutor’s Office, Osceola County Sheriff’s Office, Sarasota County Sheriff’s Office, Sarasota Police Department and the Florida Department of Law Enforcement.
