SARASOTA, Fla. – 19-year-old Isaac Griffith remains in a medically induced coma at Sarasota Memorial Hospital in critical, but stable condition, after nearly drowning in a rip current during a storm Monday.

Hospital authorities say they have seen incremental improvements Wednesday.

The Sarasota County Sheriff's Office says Griffith, a wide receiver at Indiana University, went swimming with a group of friends on spring break after they had reportedly been drinking alcohol in their hotel room.

Griffith's father posted on Twitter this morning that his son had a positive night, but there are still some battles to face. He thanks everybody for their prayers and praises the treatment his son is receiving at Sarasota Memorial.
