SARASOTA COUNTY - There are several reports of road flooding and closures due to standing water following the heavy rain. At this time, they are:

Beach Road and Midnight Pass on Siesta Key

U.S. 41 near Southgate Mall in Sarasota.

Motorists should avoid these areas altogether, as well as roads that are commonly known to flood.

Flooded roads could have significant damage hidden by the water. According to NOAA, water only two feet deep can float away most automobiles. Be particularly cautious at night when it is harder to recognize flood dangers.
