ABC7 STORM CENTER -  The storm system which has brought flooding rains across most of the Suncoast has been cancelled by the National Weather Service.

This system which has dumped up to 9 inches of rain in some isolated areas is now moving away from our area. Drier air will begin to move in on Thursday and continue through the weekend.

Although we will still see the possibility of more rain, it should not be as widespread or last as long as the storms have been over the past 3 days.

Since Monday most areas of the Suncoast near the coast have seen 5-9 inches of rain with higher amounts in isolated areas.

It now appears that the energy with this system will eventually clear out of here by tonight.

Stay tuned to ABC 7 for further updates and visit the interactive radar at http://www.mysuncoast.com/weather/interactive_map/ for a live look at the storms building in the Gulf.

Remember you shouldn't drive through high water over flooded streets it can cause your car to stall, lose breaks and possibly slip into a sink hole. Turn around don't drown if you can't determine the depth of the water.
