Flood insurance hikes could be delayed further

WASHINGTON - More than 78,000 Suncoast homeowners could see flood insurance hikes delayed for two years, or even longer.

FEMA says after Congress passed a bill postponing the hikes until October 2013, the agency tacked on an additional 12 to 18 months so it can "develop guidance materials."

Most homeowners will not see any increases until October 2014 at the earliest, and possibly not until April 2016.
