SARASOTA, Fla. - Mike Laudano celebrated changing his first diaper Wednesday afternoon. After a quick lesson the brand new father changed his son Anthony’s diaper like a pro.
“Ok, not bad for the very first time, right?” Laudano asked of his son’s nurse.
As any parent knows, Mike and his wife Jessica will get lots of practice changing diapers, but the Laudano’s will being changing more dirty diapers than the average family because Anthony was born with two sisters, Avery and Aubrey.
The proud parents shared their memory of finding out they were parents of triplets.
“I was excited obviously to be pregnant in the first place and when they said it was triplets I immediately broke down into tears,” recalled Jessica.
Mike on the other hand was very excited. “I was like jumping for joy and she was crying.”
The triplets were born healthy a minute apart at 7:26 Tuesday morning and any tears of fear were long gone replaced by tears of joy.
Jessica says she was overcome with emotion when she was able to feed baby Aubrey for the first time on Wednesday afternoon.
“Just overwhelmed with excitement, pure love,” Jessica told ABC 7 adding that it was, “something I never felt before.”
And this Thanksgiving, the Laudano’s are giving thanks times three.
“We are just glad they are here healthy and strong and they are all doing amazing.”
The Laudano triplets weighed 3lbs. 14 ounces at birth. They will stay in the NCIU at Sarasota Memorial Hospital until they gain enough weight to safely go home.
Avery, Aubrey and Anthony are the first triplets born at Sarasota Memorial's new Courtyard Tower, which opened this year.
